Brainwaves could help the understanding of mental health disorders. The University of Aberdeen reasearchers have unlocked the details of a communication process that help to generate the brain wave that allows us to think and learn. The nerve cells parvalbumin generate brainwaves, Schizophenia have a loss of these cells and therefore the frequencies of gamma waves is low. Gamma waves resonate between 25 – 50 Hz and sometimes higher.
Gamma Waves = Perception and conciousness, concentration and higher mental activity.
Imbalnces in brainwaves cause irratic and chaotic behaviour and sometimes people feel stuck and unable to move forward. Imbalances are caused by:
Injury
Medication
Alcohol
Fatigue
Emotional Distress
Pain
Stress
The NHSH is in the midst of researching the functions of brainwaves and how holistic therapies can help bring them into balance.
